London: IMG are thrilled to today announce that World No. 6, Milos Raonic, will play at this year’s Aspall Tennis Classic at The Hurlingham Club. The ultimate way to kick off the British summer tennis season, the event runs from Tuesday 27th – Friday 30th June 2017 and is the perfect warm-up to Wimbledon.
Combining timeless elegance and quintessentially British traditions, Aspall Tennis Classic provides its guests with the opportunity to experience world-class tennis in style. Canadian player Milos Raonic is currently ranked World No. 6 and has 8 ATP World Tour titles. Milos began playing tennis at the young age of 8 and was awarded ATP Newcomer of the Year in 2011 when he was just 21 years old. Since then, he has accomplished several achievements in his career. Highlights so far include reaching a Grand Slam final at the 2016 Wimbledon Championships and three ATP World Tour Masters 1000 finals at the 2013 Canadian Open, 2014 Paris Masters and 2016 Indian Wells Masters respectively. He reached a career high in November 2016, where he ranked World No. 3 in singles.
It is not the first time Raonic has played at the event, having been part of the line-up last year. Speaking about his return to the prestigious Hurlingham Club Raonic said: “I’m really excited to be back at The Hurlingham Club playing in this year’s Aspall Tennis Classic. It’s a pleasure to play in such glorious surroundings and it’s the ideal way to prepare for Wimbledon.”
Other ATP players included in the line-up are World No. 11 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, World No. 14 Lucas Pouille and World No. 15 Jack Sock. Joining them will be some of the sports most loved players – former British No. 1 Greg Rusedski, two-time grand slam finalist Mark Philippoussis, former World No. 4 Thomas Enqvist, 1986 French Open finalist Mikael Pernfors and the ever-popular Mansour Bahrami.
Owned and managed by IMG, the Aspall Tennis Classic at Hurlingham takes place at the height of tennis season, the week prior to Wimbledon. Set in the tranquil 42-acre grounds of The Hurlingham Club, it has become one of the most intimate tennis events in the social calendar, showcasing some of the current stars of today, playing in a series of singles exhibition matches as they finalise their preparations ahead of Wimbledon, as well as several legends.
