Milos Raonic arrives at Hurlingham for the second time after another fantastic year in which he achieved a career best ATP Ranking of 3 in November. Raonic burst on to the Grand Slam scene in 2011 where he reached the fourth round of the Australian Open as a qualifier and has since been a commanding presence on the ATP Tour. He has reached a total of six Grand Slam quarter-finals, three semi-finals and his best Grand Slam result came at Wimbledon last year where he was runner-up to Britain’s Andy Murray. After easing through the first week, he achieved thrilling 5 set wins over David Goffin in the fourth round and 7-time champion Roger Federer in the semi-finals, gaining revenge for his defeat at the same stage in 2014. Raonic is nicknamed ‘Missile’ on account of his powerful and accurate serve and some experts consider it to be among the best of all time. Raonic has appointed former Wimbledon champion Richard Krajicek to his coaching team for 2017 and will be hopeful that the Dutchman’s grass court experience will make the difference as he chases a first Grand Slam title.
